Women (and men, for that matter) can visit the site and use the resource locator to find help near them. In addition to the online help finder, we deployed a text message based system that allows for immediate and confidential engagement with the audience.

We recognized the unique opportunity to converse with these young women in a medium that makes sense for them. The target audience is very mobile savvy, and often times, will not pick up the phone to make a call for help with their pregnancy.

Text messaging has opened a new and engaging dialogue with women across Louisiana, and is helping provide assistance to those who have nowhere else to turn. The state is divided into 7 major geographic areas, each with its own unique keyword. When someone texts in, they get an auto response with the contact information for the nearest help center.
